mmmm....

Friday, I was able to reunite with artist John Gill at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank (mmmm...), whom I haven't seen in about a year... he has been in hiding over in the LBC. We are working on a big project together for the CW network... but more on that on Sunday.

Speaking of Bob's Big Boy, don't you remember eating there as a kid, plowing through your Big Boy Combo, because you just could not wait to get your greasy hands on that hot fudge sundae for dessert? yeah, those were the days... mmmm...

Later on Friday evening, through a freak coincidence, Beau ended up finding the wallet of our old intern Diane Chang, who is now onto bigger and better things at Conde Nast. We celebrated its miraculous return by getting some BBQ over at JR's (mmmm...). She has a fashion blog, check it out: http://eyeprinciple.blogspot.com/

After a few drinks (mmmm...) ...

...somehow I ended up eating this mess (mmmm...) at 3 in the morning.

The great thing about this stuff is that it looks the same going in as coming out.

And finally, a big thank you and an up yours to good friend and fellow gallery owner Jensen Karp for correcting me on my vast yet limited knowledge of Hip Hop. Also a congrats and condolences must go out to Jensen... A congrats for opening a new gallery in SF Here, and a condolence on the upcoming demise of Hot Karl, classically seen Here. We are gonna miss you HK.

Flores getting ready...

Just a few pics of Flores getting ready for the show this weekend. Damn, does that guy get distracted! But after some nagging like an old wife, I got him to finish up before the sun came out.

And next door at the old Scion Space, they are having a charity Graffiti show for ALS that they are getting ready for. All the big name heads were there, including Danny Boy, the old DJ from House of Pain. Should be quite a show, some 140 artists. Our little block here in Culver City is going to be banging on Saturday night.

Andy Howell

Andy Howell had the opening of his solo show last week at Lab 101 across the street. Very interesting show, but those expecting to see his old stuff be wary. Make sure to check out the hidden wall by the bathroom where Andy displays artwork on records.

Alright folks, Dave Flores will be installing tomorrow, so I will post pics of the installation as it happens!

TLB/TLM and losing your hat

Here are some photos of the show set for tomorrow night.
These kids have really knocked it out. It should be one hell of a show.

And what is this thing for? Come to the show to find out how it will be used.

And, lastly, a thought to ponder as I leave you for today. When an ex invites you out to dinner after not seeing you for 5 years, your first instinct about the whole situation is probably the best. No, in fact, its dead on.

And the show goes on...

Saturday, after we closed shop and The Reset disappeared, we headed on across the street to The Lab 101 to check out Blaine Fontana's solo show there... his last in LA until???

Blaine, as always, was nothing but the utmost gentleman, signing books well beyond his allotted time. Its good to see Blaine back in town, as he has been MIA for a while now.

Check out his next show in Denver in April at Limited Addiction Gallery.

Up and Atom to bigger and better things. Sunday began the installation of Love Conquers All, our February Exhibit with The Love Bandits and The Love Movement. Here you can see a TLM member finishing up the window installation. Below, one of the mysterious Love Bandits paint blurry eyed.

We are really excited about this show. In fact, as crazy as it sounds, KTLA came out and shot a segment that airs Thursday morning. We got Nylon Mag, Daily Candy and a host of other great outlets supportin the show. Word to your Mother.

Of course, what is a little work with out a little pla... er, drinking. Alright, so, I'm hoping The Bearded Men of MySpace finally accept my membership... I've been working on this baby for a month and a half. But damn it if those bastards don't have extremely high standards. Granted, I have already received an offer to join The Bearded Men of Space Station 11, but there's talk that they are growing their beards in an atmosphere of negative 5, which is just preposterous.

Okay folks, stay tuned for pics of Mandrake's, our show, and God Only Knows...

more nonsense

Recap of last few weeks...

project: The Reset went very well! We had the usual heads roll out, and even Mr. Flores made an appearance. Mikio rocked the new DJ loft, and Vatch ran the bar with the swiftness of a gazelle.

Later that week, Vatch invited myself, KG, Our Res DJ Vinyl Richie and Wendy and Kim out to see his buddy's band at the Echo.

They rocked the spot. Check 'em out if you get the chance... which may prove difficult, given the fact I haven't told you their name.

And since we were in the neighborhood, how could we not go to my favorite bar for some drinks. Although it does sadden me to see that The Gold Room just got a write up in Paper (I want to keep that place all to myself), I don't think anything can everchange the magic that The Gold Room embodies. Here, a local patron asks Wendy for a dance.

If you havent heard, project: is now curating the 2007 art shows at Black Market Boutique on Sawtelle. It is very exciting, as we are showcasing a lot of our young artists in solo shows. The first show was the 26th and featured one of our favorite artists, Yoskay Yamamoto. Yosk worked his ass off for this solo and it shows - the place looks amazing.

I feel bad, I had to take off to Big Bear that night at 9, so I couldnt stay the whole time, but believe me, my time was well spent. God Bless the Bowling Barn.

Alright folks, stay tuned, we are gonna be back on track.

Next up, the Blaine Fontana solo at The Lab 101...

Fuck it.

I'm not supposed to throw in another entry this quickly, but fuck it. Here are a few pics from the last 5 months...

construction of the new gallery

finally, first show

Evan took me to a Nintendo Wii release party. We saw Justin Timberlake take home EIGHT Wiis... we got zero. Here is Mix Master Mike cuttin it up.

Thank to Karen and Joyce for my Halloween Costume.

I returned the favor to Evan, taking him to a Johnny Walker Tasting. He hated it.

A couple shots of artwork for our next show. TLM and Yoskay. These guys make me proud.

Shout out to Philly and Mojo the Machine

... and to NY Hot dogs...

... and to my peeps Wendy and Kim from the Tribe. Keep hope alive.

more to come...

Yikes

Has it really been since 2005 since I have updated this thing?

I used to have a blog on my website, but due to techincal difficulties, it has been offline for 5 months... 5 months!

so I guess in the meantime I can use this, too bad no one is paying attention.

This is the next show, tomorrow in fact. We just got done hanging this, and I am pretty gosh-darned excited. Shucks. Its our first "real" show in our new location. The artwork is very diverse, many of it not really going together, but I am still proud of it. And anyway, we are gonna have a blast tomorrow. So fuck it.

Um... so I guess I'll try to update this thing in the meantime, not sure how long it will last though... I have been told that our website will finally be fixed in a few weeks... yeah, I'll hold my breath for that.
